Vintage cocktail ring in 14K gold with citrine quartz, 1960s

The ring you see is a very particular example of a cocktail ring; I say “very special” because it has a decidedly different shape from the usual one, with a highly worked frame and with the central stone positioned vertically rather than horizontally.

This is a beautiful emerald cut citrine quartz, of a very light orange which becomes very clear when viewed from one angle and which turns dark orange (almost brown) when viewed from others.

The setting, in 14K yellow gold, which holds the stone is equally important and splendid: we find four jaws that hold the four corners and that come from the same four elements, like worked bearing columns that hold the whole ring.
The stem is thick and in proportion to the whole.
