Vintage 18K gold ring with amethyst and white glass paste, 1940s / 1950s

I would define this ring as a cross between a band ring and a daisy ring: the whole stem in fact recalls the characteristics of the first, while the central part very much recalls the second.

Starting from the decoration, here we find an oval cut amethyst and a very intense purple.
Held by four claws, it is half surrounded by a contour of white glass pastes (and hence the reference to the daisy rings), which define the upper and lower contours.

On the other two sides of the amethyst we find the beginning of the stem directly: the shoulders here remind me a little of the wings of an angel, being rather wide and crossed by furrows.
The rest of the stem continues smooth.

An element that I want to point out is the presence on the back of the shoulders, and therefore inside the ring, of engravings, which look like letters and / or numbers; obviously I can't know who made them, but I find them fascinating and mysterious, especially imagining who could have engraved them, because that's when.
We have decided to leave because they are part of the history of the ring, but in any case it is possible to eliminate them at any time by polishing it.
